Of course, larger homes are typically worth more than a smaller home.
Homes with desirable features such as pools, updated kitchens, finished basements, they are going to be worth more than homes without these features.
Next, is going to be recent sales. The recent sales of similar homes in your area are going to be a good indicator of your home’s worth.
So, how do you get an accurate estimate of your home’s value?
Well, there are a few ways to get an accurate estimate of your home’s value:
You could get a comparative market analysis, a CMA, from a qualified real estate agent, like myself. I do these free of charge for people who are trying to make the decision if moving makes financial sense. A CMA compares your home to similar homes that have recently sold in your neighborhood.
You could use an online home evaluation tool. These tools use a variety of factors such as your home’s location, condition, and features to estimate its value.
Now, you could pay for an appraisal from a licensed appraiser. Some folks feel that an appraisal is the most accurate way to determine the value of your home, but it is the most expensive as well. It is going to cost you a few hundred dollars if you hire an appraiser to do the evaluation.
